The South African Power Exchange is a fully functional, financial exchange, enabling futures and options to be traded with energy being the underlying. An interactive trading game has been interfaced with this full-blown South African order-driven, computerized exchange. The intention of this site is to build awareness, stimulate and encourage interest whilst at the same time providing a realistic and real-world environment for future exchange participants.

The game randomly assigns generation trader, financial trader, or a retail trader role to its participants on a daily basis where production and consumption costs have been linked to the Internal Eskom Power Pool. This means that local Southern African conditions such as weather data for example, influence the supply and consumption pricing, providing a true, and realistic trading environment. Relevant pricing and other market information, are displayed via efficient and clear screen tickers.

Participants are able to enter bids and offers (futures and derivates), see statement details, plot their before/after and position exposures, perform analysis on pricing, and view trades , to name but a few of the rich features offered by this exciting site.
